SPLINTER RIDGE PROJECT TO BEGIN THIS SUMMER
The Madison Courier

Right of way acquisition for the Splinter Ridge Road project probably will
begin this summer, which is later than Jefferson County officials had expected.
The Indiana Department of Transportation had told Jefferson County to begin
right of way acquisition, but INDOT isn't ready for that step yet, county
commissioners were told Friday. Environmental reviews need to be completed, so
obtaining easements will have to wait because the reviews could affect the right
of way. County Engineer Jim Olson said right of way acquisition for Splinter
Ridge will now probably begin this summer.

SPRING MEANS ROAD CONSTRUCTION SEASON IN THE WABASH VALLEY

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Spring is here, and so is the season for road work: Time to fix the pot holes "old man winter" left behind, and to make the roads better to drive on. It's a necessary job, but it can also be a headache when you suddenly have to take a detour: "I always took Fruitridge over, and now that's all tore up," says Ruth Myers of Seelyville. Speeding through these work zones to save a minute or two, can be a dangerous risk. Dan Bennett is assistant supervisor for the Vigo County Highway Department. He says when you see the orange cones, it ought to let you know something is going on. "Just proceed with caution and give the guys a break," Bennett explains. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) declares this week, April 7 through 11th, "Highway Work Zone Safety Awareness Week." http://www.wthitv.com/Global/story.asp?S=8131290&nav=menu593_2
MAJOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECT IN CARMEL DELAYED

Carmel - Construction of a new roundabout has been delayed by a day. In a major construction project for Carmel, the roundabout will be built at the intersection of 116th Street and Clay Center Road. That work has been postponed until Tuesday, detouring traffic to 106th street through Spring Mill and Towne Roads. Carmel Engineers say the $750,000 project will help improve traffic flow, fuel efficiency, and safety. More than 12,000 vehicles travel that intersection every day, and that number continues to rise as the area grows. http://www.wthr.com/Global/story.asp?S=8128797

GREENFIELD, Ind. (Rushville Republican) - "Construction Ahead" signs have been placed along U.S. Highway 52 and Meridian Road to alert motorists to contractor and utility company work at the intersection just west of Fountaintown in Hancock County. Utilities are being relocated. Pipes are being placed under driveways and a storm sewer is being built. These efforts to clear the right of way are being made in advance of a $978,444 project to repair and replace pavement at the Meridian Road intersection and add left turn lanes on U.S. 52. http://www.wishtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=8131091&nav=menu35_4
