MAPLE POINT DRIVE EXTENSION OK'D
Journal & Courier
4/15/08
Lafayette is moving forward with plans to extend Maple Point Drive as a way to
ease traffic on the city's south side. Board of works members approved a
$465,000 contract Tuesday with Lafayette-based HE-BFS for design of the project.
The money will come from the Creasy Tax Increment Financing District, said City
Engineer Jenny Bonner. The roughly three-quarter-mile stretch of Maple Point
Drive would connect U.S. 52 and Concord Road. Construction on the $4.2 million
project won't begin until 2010 and likely will finish in 2012. Also included in
the plans is a proposed roundabout at the new intersection of the extension and
Concord Road. http://www.jconline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080416/NEWS/804160334
LINCOLNWAY WORK UNDER WAY AT LAST

VALPARAISO -- Road work has finally started on Lincoln-way after a week's delay. The construction on the south lane east of Roosevelt Road was supposed to start a week ago, but utility poles had not been moved yet. Stu Summers, executive director of the Redevelopment Commission, said NIPSCO was waiting on Verizon to set up new poles. Construction officials have said that the project will now likely be delayed by a week, Summers said. The first day of construction also caused some confusion for some drivers, Don McGinley, project manager, said. Although two-way traffic remained open, the southern lane is closed, along with the normal driveways to businesses. Stone drives to the buildings are being maintained, but drivers seem confused by them, McGinley said. http://www.post-trib.com/news/894646,vroad.article
TWO-WAY TRAFFIC TO RESUME ON SECTION OF MARKET STREET
WTHR-TV
4/15/08
Indianapolis - There are some changes for drivers who use a stretch of Market
Street on the near east side of Indianapolis. The stretch from Arsenal Avenue to
Pine Street is now two-way. Between Pine Street to College Avenue, it remains
one-way heading to the west. Signs and markings on the road will mark the
traffic pattern change. It will stay this way until construction is finished on
Market Street in the fall of 2009. The goal of the project is to open up Market
Street for new business opportunities and better connect the near east side to
downtown Indianapolis. The Market Street I-65/70 interstate ramp will be removed
and a new interchange will be built along East Washington Street. http://www.wthr.com/Global/story.asp?S=8170387&nav=9Tai
