How much has the I-65 construction cost you so far?
Post-Tribune
Jerry Davich
7/14/08
The renovation of Interstate 65 where it intersects with Interstate 80/94 has
cost the Indiana Department of Transportation an estimated $46 million, I'm
told. The nine-month construction project began March 1 and is expected to
finish sometime this fall. This includes rebuilding the southbound I-65 ramp
that I use every day to get from my Portage home to work in Merrillville, and
also into south Lake County and beyond. The suggested alternate route for
commuters like me is to continue westbound on I-80/94 -- past I-65 -- to the
off-ramp at Broadway, then cloverleaf back to I-80/94 eastbound to I-65
southbound. I've been doing just this since March 1. http://www.post-trib.com/news/davich/1053779,davich.article
Ind. 58 start postponed a week
First closure in Greene and Lawrence counties now July 21
Bloomington Herald Times
7/14/08
Due to recent rains, roadwork on Ind. 58 in Greene and Lawrence counties
between Ind. 45 and 54 has been postponed a week, according to the Indiana
Department of Transportation. Closures that were set to begin today will now
take place July 21. The closure will take place for a $1.3 million resurfacing
and pipe replacement contract. Contractor's crews will be installing two
drainage pipe structures under Ind. 58 as well as correcting four slides
throughout the project limits. Once those operations are complete, crews will
then begin milling and paving the roadway. During the milling and paving
operations, one lane will be maintained at all times by flag persons. The
overall contract completion date for this project is October 2008.

New I-74 interchange to open
The Indianapolis Star
Josh Duke
7/15/08
After two previous delays, state officials now say the new interchange at
I-74 and Ronald Reagan Parkway near Brownsburg will open to traffic late this
afternoon. The new interchange is expected to fuel an industrial area along
Northfield Drive on Brownsburg's northeast side. Primarily filled with
warehouses, the industrial area has drawn drag racing teams and car parts makers
to Brownsburg. The opening of the interchange won't spell the end of road
construction woes for commuters from Brownsburg. After the morning rush hour,
crews are scheduled to close U.S. 136, or Crawfordsville Road, near the
intersection of Ronald Reagan Parkway. http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080715/LOCAL0503/807150409/-1/NEWS

Cumberland Road between 146th Street and 150th Street will be closing
starting on or after July 21, 2008. Work will be approximately 60 days. The
closure will allow for the contractor to construct sewer, extend utilities, and
widen Cumberland Road to four lanes within the closure limits. http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008807150412
