ROAD WORK REQUIRES PATIENCE

VALPARAISO -- The construction on Lincolnway between Roosevelt and Sturdy roads has been going on for weeks, and business owners and workers along the busy street are frustrated but understanding. "When I try to leave work, I can't pull out," said Loucas Eleftheri, owner of Trail Inn Liquor. Though frustrated by the construction, Eleftheri is a realist. Eleftheri said he gets many complaints from customers about the road work. Although he said it was affecting the number of customers they could get, business is booming nonetheless. http://www.post-trib.com/business/1009072,vconstruction.article

Lt. Governor Becky Skillman and other local leaders will gather in Evansville today to officially break ground on a project to build an interchange at Fulton Avenue and the Lloyd Expressway. The ceremonial kick-off to the construction work is set for 2 p.m. at the northwest corner of the intersection. A part of Gov. Mitch Daniels' Major Moves program, the $32.4 million project will create an interchange similar to the one at Green River Road and the Lloyd Expressway. Construction work has actually already started. Crews have demolished many of the buildings surrounding the interchange and are currently closing the inside lanes in both directions of the Lloyd to work on the median. http://www.courierpress.com/news/2008/jun/17/fulton-lloyd-groundbreaking-today/

BRIDGE WILL TAKE LONGER THAN PLANNED

PLYMOUTH - Progress on the South Michigan Street bridge project continues at a good clip but not quite good enough to keep it from taking a little longer than scheduled. The bridge was originally scheduled to be completed by July 1 but bad weather in the early stages of the construction will keep it from being complete until Aug. 1. Workers were seeking a four-day extension from the Indiana Department of Transportation for delays encountered recently in the installing of a new water main through the structure by the city of Plymouth. It was believed the main ran through the original bridge structure and could be replaced quickly. When work began it was discovered that the main actually ran under the Yellow River. It was believed the extension would be granted since the delays were caused by unforeseen circumstances beyond the crew's control. The County Commissioners voted their support for granting the delay. http://www.thepilotnews.com/content/view/59062/27/
