A planned pedestrian overpass at 146th Street took a small step toward
reality Monday. A preliminary engineering agreement was reached between the
Hamilton County Board of Commissioners and the Hamilton County Highway
Department on the project that would take Monon Trail over 146th Street. The
agreement includes survey work on the project, said Hamilton County Highway
engineer Jim Neal. As part of the agreement, costs of the preliminary study are
not to exceed $118,000, Neal said. Federal aid of $1.5 million is already in
place for the project, said Hamilton County Highway Director Brad Davis.
"The federal funding is scheduled for 2010," Davis said. "It
would be our hope the project is ready for construction in early 2010." http://www.county29.net/cms2/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17689&Itemid=230

SOUTH BEND - The west side of Eddy Street at LaSalle and Colfax avenues will
paved this week as part of an improvement project, according to city engineer
Carl Littrell. Littrell said utility relocation slowed down the project, but
completion is still expected to be on time in late October. The city received
federal aid for part of the project from the Indiana Department of
Transportation to construct left turn lanes at the intersections.
