On
June 29, 2006 ,
Build Indiana Council representatives took part in a ceremony where over
$3.8 Billion was transferred to Indiana bank accounts for use on highway
and bridge construction projects around the state. BIC Chairman
Lee Carmichael answered a telephone call on behalf of the over 500
contractors, designers, material and equipment suppliers that work in
Indiana
’s highway construction industry. During this call a representative of
JP Morgan Chase acknowledged receipt of a $380 Million transfer to
Indiana
from the consortium that has leased the Indiana Toll Road. Several
transfers were made over the course of about one hour. Afterwards,
Chairman Carmichael spoke directly with Governor Mitch Daniels
and thanked him for his commitment to building roads and creating jobs
in
Indiana.
