Indiana Transportation: Building for the Future
Indiana’s roads and bridges need regular maintenance, upgrades and expansion to keep our transportation system strong. Ten years ago, the Indiana General Assembly passed HEA 1002 to create a plan for long-term road funding. Since then, our industry has faced new challenges, including high inflation, supply chain issues and more fuel-efficient vehicles. Because of these changes, it’s important for lawmakers to review how we fund Indiana’s roads and develop a solid plan for the future. Although the state invests in these projects, most road construction in Indiana still depends on federal funding. However, a reliable federal funding solution remains uncertain. Indiana must keep planning now to meet future transportation needs. For Indiana’s highways, roads and bridges, the future starts today.
BIC began in 1987 as a group supporting the transportation construction industry. Today, we represent over 500 companies across Indiana. Our main goal is to keep improving Indiana’s roads and bridges and to ensure steady, long-term funding for these projects.
